Situated in the heart of Moss Side and faced with pupils from diverse backgrounds, Claremont wanted to enhance teaching and aid pupil engagement with ICT across the curriculum. To achieve this they needed to harness the benefits of ICT outside of the conventional IT suite and move to a mobile solution using devices like laptops and netbooks.

After previously experiencing an inadequate wireless system to cope with their future plans, Claremont turned to Computeam for a new comprehensive wireless solution that would cover the whole site. Having tested many different wireless solutions over the years, Computeam had no hesitation in recommending a Meru wireless network solution to the school.

Unlike traditional wireless solutions that run on different channels, Meru offers a single channel wireless network.  This allows extensive wireless coverage without the fear of the network dropping out when roaming between access points.  As the wireless network requires expansion, the Meru system is adaptable and allows the installation of additional access points and devices without the need for remodelling.  Also, by using this technology, a Meru Wireless network allows a stable wireless environment no matter what part of the building the wireless devices are been used without the need to add additional access points.

Once Computeam had installed the new wireless network, Claremont moved ICT into the classroom and currently run over 150 mobile devices.  This has allowed teachers to harness the power of ICT in other areas of the curriculum and all areas of the school, and improve pupil engagement and learning, meeting all of the objectives that the schools set out to achieve.
