How can we safeguard our pupils online in school and at home?

In this afternoon session Rebecca Macdonald, a specialist Student Safety Analyst, will present and cover areas of focus that schools should look to incorporate and include within their safeguarding policies as well as exploring tools that can help keep students safe in a mobile-connected world.

The session will cover:

• Knife Crime

• Cyberbullying

• Self-Harm

• Eating disorders

We will discuss these topics from an internet safety sense - how these topics/issues are portrayed online, how safeguarding products can help by flagging such harmful content and then provide information on ways in which schools and parents can help identify potential signs to look out for that may indicate that a child is struggling.

Computeam & Safeguarding

To ensure users are kept safe whilst using all technology including Chromebooks, Ipads and mobile devices, schools should consider a cloud-based Student Safety Solution which will enable the Trust to keep pupils safe wherever they’re connected, providing online protection to children at school, in the classroom, and at home while using any school-owned or managed devices.

At our safeguarding event you can learn about one such tool - Securly and the IT tools available to help keep your students safe online. Discover the best options for your school and the technology you are using.

With our a cloud-based solution, we can help you tackle filtering preventing access to things like gambling and pornography with automatically updating page scanners and blacklisting tools. We can safeguard emails auditing them for bullying or intentions of self-harm and violence with advanced sentiment analysis. We will discuss solutions that introduces a human team of trained analysts from a variety of backgrounds, including psychology and sociology. Their experience dealing with sensitive topics allows them to understand the risk level of an alert by analysing the content and context of the student’s digital footprint. When immediate outreach is needed, The School or Trust staff will hear directly from one of the local analysts with the full context of the student's monitored activity so your staff can make the right decision on how to proceed.
