What is the impact of IT on education?
Information technology (IT) has had a significant impact on eduication in recent years. From the development of online learning tools, improved accessibility of digital resources, to collaborative learning software and platforms allowing students to work together regardless of location, and personalised learning being made possible in a way that allows teachers to track student progress and tailor instruction to their personal needs - the impact is huge, and the number of possibilities for improving learning outcomes for students is incredibly exciting.
How does technology improve education?
There are lots of ways technology can work alongside teachers to improve learning outcomes.
- Online learning - the pandemic especially encouraged this in leaps and bounds, with student learning from home being a prioirity. One of the big benefits of this development, is that with access to educational content and the ability to complete courses online, students have the ability to learn anywhere.
- Digital resources - the development of cloud platforms has made it easier for educators to access and share digital resources such as videos, presentations, and interactive activities to enhance the learning experience of students.
- Collaborative learning - again, spurred on by the need created by the pandemic, IT tools and platforms focused on collaboration have made it possible for students to work together and share ideas in real-time, regardless of their location.
- Personalised learning - IT has made it possible for teachers to track student progress and make it much easier to tailor their instruction to meet individual needs.
